we drug out one of the 32" black walnut logs today. It was hot and the winch got a workout! So did the forklift. It has a lot of fencing embeded in it but some of it should be solid.

We cut a bunch of Black Walnut sunday. Nick Eason is a wood carver that helped drop this tree and we cut him some chunks for his carving. The large round is tree of heaven from Nancy's house for her bowl!

poplar

This is a spalted poplar bread bowl. Poplar is a common wood in Moab that is definitely undervalued. It is very strong and light. It has nice subtle grain and this piece has spalted while on the ground and has crazy black spotting and streaks with hints of purple.

chopsticks

Here are a few pictures of finished work. A set of black walnut gun stock blanks. A knot of dogbane cords for necklaces. Some russian olive chopsticks and some apricot and peach wood spoons and spatula.
